Some of my “Side Projects”

Girth Hitch guiding

I got into climbing because of my son. We watched the amazing movie Free Solo together and at the end of the film, Andrew said “dad, I want to do that!” and my reply was “HELL NO!” But in the end we started climbing, indoors at first, and then we moved outside. I met Tim Taylor (now one of my best friends) who was my first guide, and we hit it off. So much so that I helped him start Girth Hitch Guiding which is one of the best mountain guiding companies in Alberta. You should check them out.

aurora fly rods

One of my long time friends and business associate, Greg Zeschuk finally after years of prodding got me into fly fishing. As with most things, I jumped in with both feet. While I have only been casting for just over a year, and still pretty much suck, he and I are in the process of starting a fly rod company. Our vision is to make high quality fly rods available to the market at great value so that it is easier for people to get into the sport.

Stay tuned for the launch of our new site. auroraflyrods.ca

flylife canada

Continuing with the fly fishing world, one of my good friends Gary Hanke is an amazing angler. In fact, he has competed in international events representing Canada. As I found myself immersed in the world of fly fishing, I turned to Gary to help me learn more about the sport. That then lead to me designing and building his new website which I help run as he tries to get anglers in Canada using better tying materials.
